A tree-climbing bandit attempting to break into a Brooklyn home Thursday died after a branch snapped and sent him plummeting to the ground, police said.
The 33-year-old somehow got onto the roof of the three-story Bushwick building and made a leap toward the tree shortly before 9 a.m., cops said.
Investigators say they believe the man was trying to use the tree to break into an apartment in the Chauncey St. building, sources said.
But the weak branch couldn't support the would-be burglar and he fell to the ground when it broke.
The man died at the scene. Police withheld his name, pending notification of his family.
In February, a 23-year-old man survived a three-story plunge when he fell through a fire escape trying to break into his ex-boyfriend's Manhattan apartment.
Miguel Angel De La Torre broke his back in the February incident and was treated at St. Luke's Hospital.
Authorities said he was harassing his 41-year-old former flame and faced charges for violating an order of protection.
